01 / THE REASON WE BEGAN

Before it was an app,
it was Yasmen.

A personal beginning.
A purpose worth sharing.

When Yasmen faced a cardiac health challenge, her family found themselves learning an unfamiliar language.

There were medical terms to understand, echocardiogram reports to make sense of, and questions that deserved clear explanations. For her father, Ahmed, the experience made the need for accessible cardiology education deeply personal.

AskCardio grew from that experience: a way to turn a family’s search for understanding into something useful for others. Yasmen remains the inspiration behind the project—and the reminder that behind every question is a person.

Father. Engineer. Creator of AskCardio.

Technology means more when it starts with someone you care about.

Ahmed’s background brings together biomedical engineering and digital innovation. He graduated in Biomedical and Systems Engineering in 2002, with an undergraduate project focused on 3D surgical planning using ultrasound.

AskCardio brings that engineering perspective to a personal mission: making cardiology education more approachable, with Yasmen’s story at its heart.
